In difficult situations we have the opportunity to learn and grow beyond our perceived limits. Holocaust survivor, author of Man’s Search for Meaning, and founder of Logotherapy Viktor Frankl found powerful meaning in suffering and despair. “Each suffering situation is an appeal to ask ‘What is this suffering challenging me for?’” I was moved to tears by this quote at the Viktor Frankl Museum in Vienna. But it resonates with me most when I am in the wilderness. My painting depicts a strong hiker persevering outside of her comfort zone.
