With no prior experience, I decided to join an all women’s mountain biking group. I wanted to stretch my comfort zone and try something new. After two classes, I thought “wow I am not cut out for this.” I immediately resolved to quit. But when I shared my doubts with the coach, she said she believed in me. And it totally changed my mindset.

Everyone’s trying to get better at something. Maybe it’s a sport, or maybe it’s more than that. Sometimes the only difference between quitting and seeing it through is someone saying that they believe in you.

So make sure that you are telling people you are proud of them, that they are doing a good job, that you see their progress. They might just need someone else to believe in them before they can believe in themselves.

I can’t say I’m very good at mountain biking but I’m having a blast doing it!
